Potato Day 2026 will be on Saturday 7th February, 2026, 10am-1pm at Bowburn Community Centre, DH6 5AT

We have ordered a range of varieties of seed potato, many of them organic, for sale in quantities from a single tuber upwards.

Admission is free and light refreshments will be available.

The varieties listed below have been ordered from our supplier but delivery may be subject to availability.

First Early

Casablanca – Good for all uses from boiling and chipping to mash and roasting.

Colleen – High disease and pest resistance, good for baking and chips as well as being an excellent new potato

Pentland Javelin – Good boiled salad potato, with good all-round disease resistance to common scab and blackleg

Red Duke of York – Great flavour when mashed with ample amounts of butter

Second Early

Charlotte – Good as a salad potato, it can be stored up till Christmas and is noted for good resistance against slugs and common scab

Jacky – A new variety with strong late blight resistance. Great for salads and wedges

Nicola – Has a high resistance to common and powdery scab. Great for boiling and wedges

Ratte – A classic French variety, delicious when boiled or steamed

Early Main

Alouette – Great flavour, can be cooked any way you choose and has the benefit of excellent blight resistance.

Orla – Can be used for most cooking methods – from baking and mashing to chips, boiling and roasting. Has high blight and scab resistance

Main

Cara – High levels of resistance to drought, blight, common scab and viruses, good for baking and chips

Heidi Red – Tubers with bright red skin and flesh, good for salads and boiled potatoes

King Edward – excellent taste, good keeping properties, good resistance to common scab, powdery scab.

Sarpo Mira – One of the most blight resistant varieties available, ideal for baking and roasting

Setanta – High resistance to blight and blackleg, good for baking, boiling, roasting, and chips.

Valor – Can grow in all types of conditions, has high resistance to blight and viruses and also high yields, an all-round variety that can be used for boiling, mashing, baking, roasting, and chips
